These LEDs are perfect for showing animations and other dynamic displays or creating beautiful, complex lighting effects. While traditional LEDs can only be set to display a single color across its LEDs, Addressable RGBs give the user greater control over individual LEDs, including color, brightness and pattern. The Long and Short of ScalabilityĪddressable RGB LEDs are simply a more advanced version of traditional RGB LEDs. There will also be a piece dedicated to body positivity by using a painting called “Flowers in Her Hair” for inspiration. Over the years, women staked their place as creators. Women were often the subject of the paintings people gazed upon their forms rather than what their forms could create. Once it became super-expensive, it became an object that said something about the abilities and success of the person who owned it, as much as anything to do with the contents. So, there was a confluence of two streams – one which I think is economic and one which I think is more scholarly and theatrical – at the end of the 18th century which combined to make this book highly covetable and super-expensive. In the second half of the eighteenth-century new wealth stimulated luxury goods markets in Wedgwood china, book collection, and wonderful country houses. The 1623 edition came to acquire an authoritative reputation which later editions didn’t have, and as an artefact it benefitted from the expansion of luxury consumerism fuelled by money from the slave trade. When Dickerson interviewed Harry Bollinger, a Navy recruit who participated in the mustard gas tests, he explained how the VA refused to acknowledge his participation in the experiments, citing regulations and a lack of records. Those veterans suffered from skin problems, respiratory issues and cancer for decades-and now, some don't trust the VA. Though the tests themselves are shocking and outrageous, the follow-up to the experiments-or lack thereof-was what ultimately provoked lawmakers to demand restitution for the veterans and their families. The VA has recognized that injured veterans deserve benefits, and NPR's investigation aims to find more eligible victims with its database, which lists the names, last known residences, birth dates, enlistments and military branches where the veterans served. Japanese Americans were also tested, as proxies for Japanese troops. "They said we were being tested to see what effect these gases would have on black skins," Edwards tells Dickerson. Black and Puerto Rican troops were specifically exposed to see how their skin would react. The military was searching for the " ideal chemical soldier" to resist potential attacks, according to medical historian Susan Smith. The WWII experiments, which were conducted in Panama, were meant to determine how chemical weapons performed in tropical island climates. And finally they opened the door and let us out, and the guys were just, they were in bad shape," he said. "Guys started screaming and hollering and trying to break out. As an Army soldier, Edwards was exposed to chemical agents while standing inside a wooden gas chamber. "It felt like you were on fire," Rollins Edwards, now 93, told her. And they were sworn to secrecy about the tests under threat of dishonorable discharge and military prison time, leaving some unable to receive adequate medical treatment for their injuries, because they couldn't tell doctors what happened to them. They received no follow-up health care or monitoring of any kind. Most do not have proof of what they went through. In her NPR report last June, Dickerson explained the scope of the problem:Īll of the World War II experiments with mustard gas were done in secret and weren't recorded on the subjects' official military records. Severe mustard agent burns are fatal, and those who recover face a chronic breathing problems higher risk of cancer. Depending on how the weapon is deployed, it can cause intense skin irritation, large fluid-filled blisters, bleeding and blistering in the respiratory system. It first went into large-scale production during World War I. Though chemical weapons have been used in warfare for at least 1,700 years, mustard gas is a modern invention. Now, NPR had released its own comprehensive, searchable database of the 3,900 veterans who were exposed to mustard gas and other chemical weapons, in an attempt to track down uncompensated survivors and their families. Though the program was declassified in 1993, an ongoing investigation by NPR's Caitlin Dickerson has revealed that the Department of Veteran Affairs only located and offered compensation to 610 victims. military conducted secret chemical weapons experiments on approximately 4,000 American soldiers. ![]() ![]() ![]() Songs from the Apple Music catalog cannot be burned to a CD. iTunes-compatible CD or DVD recorder to create audio CDs, MP3 CDs, or backup CDs or DVDs.What We Don't Like Occasional lag as the canvas representing the iOS device is rendered. If people want stock games with heavy restrictions, more power to them, if people in that area want to make a superstock game the existence of a stock one isn't going to prevent them from organizing and creating their own group. In that case I felt like keeping things highly accessible to everyone was a bigger priority than allowing modded blasters. I ran a stock group for a long time, we had a soft ban on all modded blasters simply because we wanted the playing field to always be even and for everyone to have fun with a very minimal buy in. If everyone who is playing agrees to abide by the rules as they are given, then there's no reason to care about the restrictions. Modding makes up half the hobby, banning it from your group is just holding players back.Įh, yes and no, it depends on what the goal of your group is. But I think there's room within any group for modders to do what they do and have fun with the blasters they've modded. I agree that not every nerf group has to be made up of maxed out flywheel blasters fed by massive chest rigs full of Worker 22 mags. As long as modded players aren't dicks, and there's enough of them to balance them on teams, there's no reason to completely ban modded blasters. An ammo cap makes far more sense and is more likely to put people on a level playing field.Īlso, a majority of people using stock blasters doesn't prevent others from using modded blasters. No one who actually plays would enforce a rule like that without a role playing justification. The one mag restriction is patently absurd, considering that restriction encompasses anything from 6 darts to 35. I'd guess OP is playing in a group that is primarily made up of kids, run by parents. Shockingly it's possible for this hobby to encompass a wide variety of different game types and concepts. Toruk just gets butt hurt when people want to play a game that isn't his style of piles of mags ultra stock dick wavery. When I ran a Wild West LARP that used Nerf blasters we obviously didn't allow things like Stryfes and Rapidstrikes, and games like Dystopia Rising limit magazines, full auto and max amount of ammo because it's set in the post apocalypse where those things are supposed to be very rare (or in many Post-Apoc LARPs because things like ammo and weapons are tied to crafting abilities and player class). B) Because it's a LARP or narrative focused game and ammo/magazines/etc doesn't fit whatever the theme of the game is. Stock only with limited mags is usually for one of two reasons: A) Keep the playing field even so that a kid can buy a cheap blaster at Target and not be out classed by some adult man with a $200 superstock primary.
